Experiences with the fraDesk
For seven years fraLine had been working with the conceptual forerunner of its current web-based helpdesk system fraDesk. The fraDesk has been active since August 2007 and was successfully presented at the CeBit in 2008. Moreover, the fraDesk has been tested by several organizations and companies for quite some time now:
The first organizations to test the fraDesk included: our sister projects in Bremen and Hamburg, Mayfield Property Management GmbH, the City of Rotenburg (Wümme), the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg/Ostfriesland/Wilhelmshaven, M@us-Medienzentrum in Gießen and the Taunus BKK. Further companies currently taking interest in the fraDesk are the Intstituion for Information Management Bremen, the esa Darmstadt, the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt am Main and the State of Hesse.
The data center of the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg/Ostfriesland/Wilhelmshaven tested the fraDesk for their own use in direct comparison to track-it! (Numara software) and OTRS 2.2. In his test report (in German/available for download here [PDF, 484 kB] ) Alexander Lachwitz arrives at the following conclusion:
"Due to the experiences made […] within this project I conclude that the fraDesk should definitely be implemented in the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg/Ostfriesland/Wilhelmshaven. Software handling is intuitive for all persons involved. The system offers comprehensive functions and configurations enabling its long-term use." (cp. Lachwitz 2007, p. 14).
Test reports and results of other testers are very welcome and will be posted on this page.
