External Evaluation by the "Technologie-Zentrum Informatik" of the University of Bremen (2003)

The Frankfurt school maintaining body ("Stadtschulamt") commissioned a survey to investigate the use and infrastructure of IT and communication technology throughout Frankfurt schools. The survey was conducted in the third quarter of 2000 by a research team of the University of Bremen under the direction of  Prof. Dr. Andreas Breiter and resulted in the implementation of a new support structure by founding "fraLine – IT-School-Service".

Since the beginning of 2002 fraLine – IT-School-Service is available for schools in Frankfurt. In order to evaluate our service efficiency the Technologie-Zentrum Informatik of the University of Bremen was assigned with the academic monitoring of the project.

In May 2002 the first Interim Report of the spring survey of 2002 (Executive Summary, [PDF, 113 kB], only in German) was provided by the University of Bremen. It was the aim of the second survey to determine the status-quo of IT-equipment and its service expense in Frankfurt schools at the project´s start time  and to describe service demands according to the schools´ suggestions. Using the results of the survey with 118 participating schools the research group designed a suggestion checklist for fraLine

Additionally, another survey was conducted in spring 2003 in order to track the changes in IT-equipment and service expenses as well as to evaluate the fraLine service and therefore the effectiveness of the project fraLine – IT-School-Service.

We thank all schools that participated actively in the survey for the time and effort they spent.

Executive summaries of the survey results are available here (only in German):
